Has Your Brand Been Forgotten? Time to Start Earning Engagement (INFOGRAPHIC)

Pop Quiz!

Without consulting Google or your address book, name the following:

Your plumber

Your dentist.

The last membership organization you joined.

Your real estate agent.

The brand of cereal you ate this morning. Or the name of the farm your eggs came from, if you're the lucky type that gets to have a nicer breakfast.

The family vet.

The manufacturer of the ink pen next to your hand. Or the manufacturer of the case around your smartphone on which you're reading this.

Okay, quiz over. How did you do?

Just a guess, but you probably drew blanks on many of these. It's okay; you're just not engaged with these brands.

If you were able to name some of them, it's because you're connected with them in some way - you love their product/service and are a fan of the brand, you receive their email newsletter, or maybe you've liked them on Facebook. Or it could be entirely consequential, like you stare at their brand all day because it's on your monitor.

Regardless, those brands have done something to capture your attention, or at least earn some real estate in your mind, and they're the ones you've chosen to remember among the 10,000+ you encounter every day.

What makes the difference between an engaged brand and one that's forgotten?

The answers aren't simple. The truth is consumers are overwhelmed with brand messaging, and they know competition is fierce for their money. They're great at tuning out marketing messages, but they're receptive to the right message delivered through the right medium.
