REPORT: 50% OF AMERICANS OPPOSE EXPANDED THANKSGIVING RETAIL SHOPPING HOURS (Colloquy)
Interestingly, 50% of millennials were in favor of Thanksgiving shopping. Colloquy's suggestion? To each retailer his own.
Retailers should identify who their best customers are and respond with Thanksgiving and Black Friday sales strategies accordingly.
- AROUND THE GLOBE, PRIVATE LABEL'S APPEAL GOES BEYOND PRICE (Nielsen)
Buying private label (or store brand) products is a growing trend this year, and now people are reporting that the quality of these products is improving. Whether that's true or not, Nielsen nails the heart of the matter with this statement:
Price is important to most consumers and is the primary driver of consumers' purchase intent for private label. Sixty-nine percent of respondents globally feel it’s important to get the best price on a product. Moreover, 70% say they purchase private label to save money.
It's not that store brands taste so much better, but they're a better overall value to consumers because the price is low and the quality is "close enough."
Marriott Rewards offers free Wi-Fi worldwide (Wise Marketer)
Beginning in January, those who book rooms directly through Marriott will get free Wifi. Sounds small, but free wifi is the most desired perk among travelers.
The Five Traits of Great Customer Incentives (Access Loyalty Blog)
Why is free wifi for travelers a great incentive? It's cheap for Marriott, it's important to their customers, and it incentivizes customers to come back to Marriott properties repeatedly. Those - and more - are on our list of important traits every customer incentive should have.
Walmart workers at over 1,600 locations plan Black Friday strike (UPI)
Potential disaster awaits the retail behemoth, as thousands of employees are reportedly planning to strike on a day when they're traditionally trying to prevent people from being trampled due to huge crowds.
