Brands We Love: Disney Parks

As you know from our past Brands We Love entries, we get all goofy about our merchants. Besides serving their deals up to millions through our discount programs, we love bragging on them every chance we get. This time, our National Partnership Marketing Account Director, Tracie Ellis, tells us what it is about Disney that makes it so magical.

Tracie EllisAs an Access employee, and on behalf of the average American, I can vouch that Disney truly is the happiest place on earth. Between Walt Disney World and Disneyland, I’ve visited the parks over 30 times, making me somewhat of a self-proclaimed expert. Asking me to pick my favorite park is like asking me to pick between my children…I love them all. My favorite ride, however; is Splash Mountain. [Read more...]

Why Not Walmart? Merchants Not on Access (Yet)

At the beginning of each month, Access sends an update to our client groups featuring updates on merchants alongside best practices on how to maximize the effectiveness of their programs. February’s addressed a topic we encounter often, so we felt it worthy to publish here on the blog.

Character and magnify glass

Having recently surpassed 300,000 locations in our discount network, we at Access know the importance of understanding merchants from their point of view. It’s something we call “getting behind the counter.”

Because we go to such lengths to support and promote our merchant partners, many of the world’s top brands trust Access to help them attract new customers and improve their bottom line. In 2012, for example, 60% of the nation’s top 50 retailers offered a discount through the Access network. And of the top 50 casual/quick-serve restaurants in America, Access offers 93% of those brands.

So why doesn’t EVERY retailer offer a discount on the Access network? [Read more...]

The Access Approach to Merchant Relations, and More

Access Development is about to turn 29. During that time we’ve served millions of clients, members and merchants. That longevity is due to our great merchant content, effective marketing, and unique model in which our content is served to members through client groups (as opposed to being to the general public.) Talk to many of our merchants, however, and you’ll get a different perspective on what had made Access a long time success.

dm-confidentialOur approach is unique, in that we’re motivated to keep both merchant and member satisfied. Why? Because those two elements play a huge role in keeping our clients happy. Merchants who trust us offer better deals for our members, who love the relevant value. That happiness is passed on to the client group, who provides the deals through their members benefits package.

Few are better qualified to illustrate the Access approach to merchant relations than Vice President of Partnership Marketing Dave Bona. Dave has worked directly with literally tens and thousands of merchants during his time at Access, and understands their needs better than anyone else in our industry.

Dave did a Q&A with local commerce site DM Confidential that we think reveals a lot of what makes Access so much different from other merchant content providers. He answered questions about the future of Access, what advice he has for businesses considering running a deal, what consumers should know about merchants, and more.

Check out some of the responses Dave provides over at DMConfidential.com.

The Growing Wave of Mobile Coupons

This Black Friday, you can expect to see a lot of shoppers on their phones. Not to call home or tweet their location, but to get better deals. That’s because there’s a big growth wave in the mobile coupon world, and we’re about to reach mass adoption.

MobileCoupon-phone-imageNotice we didn’t use the term “trend” in the title of this post? What we’re seeing is a fundamental shift of the venerable coupon from a clipped piece of paper into dynamic content that lives in the palm of your hand and is available when you want it, wherever you are. We’ve been saying this was coming for years, but recent research shows that the transition is happening faster than was originally anticipated:

The number of consumers receiving coupons via mobile devices is expected to rise by 30% next year to more than 500 million people, a new report from Juniper Research has found. – Juniper Research, November 2012 [Read more...]

Brands We Love: Riverbanks Zoo & Garden

Big national brands definitely have a place on the Access discount programs, but what sets Access apart for many is our massive amount of local deals. Places like community zoos, who tend to be very selective about the deals they offer and Riverbanks Zoo Logowho they work with. In this Brands We Love post, Ashley Butler goes a little wild for her favorite zoo.

Growing up in South Carolina, the Riverbanks Zoo & Garden was a name I heard weekly on the radio or among the buzz of my friends. Most of the local schools would plan a field trip to the zoo at some point during a child’s school career, so as you may have already guessed, I have been a visitor of the Riverbanks Zoo myself.
